- Productive parenting involves
PRAISE:
Words are both powerful,
and self-esteem building.
Just as a parent praises the
“scribble scrabble” artwork
of a toddler whose artwork is
just that; “Scribble Scrabble,”
Whether they are 3 or 33, a
parent should as often as they
can make a son/daughter feel
special. - Productive parenting involves
PRESENCE:
When possible, never refuse an
opportunity to hangout with
them, even if the time is for
only 5 minutes. It is better for
them to experience minutes of
quality time with a parent, than
to face the negative feeling
of hearing a parent say, “Not
now, I’m busy.” - Productive parenting involves
PARENTAL PATIENCE:
Parental patience is waiting for
a newborn to begin sleeping the
entire night long, waiting for an
Infant to no longer need diapers,
as well as waiting for a toddler
to walk for the very first time.
Parental patience is particularly
needed during the preteen and
teenage years of parenting.
